BGIS Receives ISO 22301:2012 Certification – First of its kind within the Integrated Facilities Management industry
APRIL 10, 2019 - BGIS is proud to be the first North American organization within the Integrated Facilities Management industry to obtain ISO 22301:2012 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS) certification, and with zero non-conformances.
ISO 22301 is an internationally recognized business continuity standard developed to protect companies from the risks associated with downtime as a result of unexpected disruptions or disasters. This certification allows BGIS to continue with the service delivery excellence clients have come to rely on, while raising the bar within the industry through setting a standard of excellence that is unmatched in North America.
“BGIS’s journey to ISO certification began three years ago,” says BGIS’s Ingrid Robinson, Managing Director, Enterprise Risk Management, North America. “In early 2019, our BCMS arrived to full maturity making us ready to take that next ISO step.”
Business disruptions are often associated with negative consequences, including significant revenue loss, data risk breakdowns and the inability for client facilities to provide for their customers and stakeholders. ISO certification ensures businesses can demonstrate to stakeholders and interested parties that they meet internationally standardized legal and regulatory compliance requirements.
“A robust BCMS framework supports strengthened management processes which allows BGIS to supply a level of critical services and products within a specified time frame to our clients after disruption,” says Gord Hicks, Global CEO, BGIS. “Given the critical nature of our business and our client’s operations, this is a significant achievement which will serve to further differentiate our business.”
The certification process and annual surveillance audits by the ISO regulatory body will hold BGIS accountable to its commitment to its BCMS excellence through continuous improvement, and ensuring the BGIS management system is consistently up-to-date.
