Sdce award

Toronto, ON — December 9, 2020 — Supply & Demand Chain Executive, the only magazine in the supply chain industry covering the entire global supply chain, has selected BGIS as a recipient of the SDCE Green Supply Chain Award for 2020.

The Green Supply Chain Award recognizes companies making green or sustainability a core part of their supply chain strategy and are working to achieve measurable sustainability goals within their operations and supply chains. The award also recognizes supply chain solutions and services providers assisting their customers in achieving measurable sustainability goals.

“This year’s 13th-annual award recognizes small, mid-size and large enterprises that leveraged green practices and solutions to further drive sustainable improvements in their supply chain,” says Marina Mayer, editor-in-chief of Supply & Demand Chain Executive and Food Logistics. “From software solutions to transportation management systems to several other initiatives designed to reduce carbon footprint and improve the re-use of materials, sustainability continues to rank as a key component to a stronger, safer and more efficient supply chain.”

“BGIS is thrilled to have been recognized a second time by SDCE with the 2020 Green Supply Chain Award,” says John Castelhano, Vice President, Strategic Sourcing, North America, BGIS. “Achieving sustainable operating practices and promoting the efficient use of resources is one of BGIS’s corporate Key Values – ‘Living Sustainability’ and environmental stewardship is a cornerstone of BGIS’s global operating philosophy. At BGIS, we expect all our suppliers to operate in a sustainable fashion. BGIS is very proud of our latest sustainability initiatives: ensuring that our suppliers are using the most environmentally sustainable cleaning consumables (solutions and paper products) and creating a safe, sustainable workplace for cleaning staff and building occupants; and our coast-to-coast partnership with the unique not-for-profit Smart About Salt Council (SASC), that will strive for improved winter maintenance services that is grounded in best management practices. BGIS is leading the industry by encouraging all service partners in any new tendering process for winter management services in 2020 to be SASC Certified through their proposal evaluation criteria. Once applied, the SASC’s programs have demonstrated their ability to promote safety and address a growing environmental concern surrounding the over-application of salt as a result of poor winter maintenance practices.”

“We are so thankful that we are enabled to ‘live sustainability’ by our customers and by our tremendously talented and committed internal supply chain team,” says Mike Greidanus, President, BGIS Canada.
