Blake Corbin: Promoting Health and Safety at LEVEL UP Ontario

CORBIN 1

Blake Corbin, a dedicated Health, Safety, and Environmental Specialist for the National Capital Region (NCR), recently volunteered at the LEVEL UP events, an initiative to connect students, educators, and employers in Ontario with career-building opportunities. Corbin was there for the Workplace Safety and Prevention Services (WSPS), sharing a booth with the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA). His focus? Promoting the importance of health and safety training, particularly through the Health and Safety Awareness Programs (HASP) in high schools—a cause he’s been passionately involved in for over 13 years.

Wearing his recognizable BGIS golf shirt, Corbin was recognized by many local businesses and employees whose workplaces are managed by BGIS, a leading real estate management services company. His presence at the event not only highlighted his role within BGIS but also his longstanding commitment to workplace safety and education.

The two-day LEVEL UP event saw over 3,000 attendees on each day, an impressive turnout considering a school bus strike in the Ottawa Valley and a PD Day in several school districts. Despite these challenges, Corbin engaged with a diverse group of students, teachers, and parents from regions such as Kingston, Sharbot Lake, Petawawa, and surrounding areas. His message about the importance of health and safety resonated with attendees, helping to raise awareness about the critical role of safety programs in schools and beyond.

As a seasoned advocate for workplace safety, Corbin’s efforts at LEVEL UP Ontario contributed to fostering a culture of safety and responsibility among the next generation of workers. His involvement with WSPS and IHSA continues to make a lasting impact, ensuring that students are equipped with the knowledge and skills they need to prioritize health and safety in their future careers.
